Today, April 3, is the 71st anniversary of the Jeju uprising and massacre that started in 1948 and lasted until 1954. SPEAK mourns the genocide and state repression of Jeju people by the U.S.-backed South Korean police and right-wing paramilitary groups. Over 10% of Jeju’s population at the time died.
This summer, SPEAK is going to study about the Jeju uprising and massacre together and visit Jeju in the late summer to take part in the Jeju Dark Tour. Please keep an eye out in the near future for more detailed information about how to participate!
